Description
As previously explained, “Leica ANY – Surface Reflector Laser Tracker – Surface Reflector” isn’t an actual Leica product. Leica offers two separate components that might be causing the confusion:
- Leica Absolute Tracker (or other compatible laser tracker): This is a high-precision instrument that measures 3D coordinates using a laser beam. It requires a separate target to reflect the laser back for accurate measurement.
- Leica Surface Reflector: This is a small, specialized prism that reflects the laser beam from the Leica Absolute Tracker back to the source. It’s an accessory, not a part of the tracker itself.
Here’s a breakdown describing each:
Leica Absolute Tracker:
- A portable or stationary measurement system that emits a laser beam.
- Tracks the reflected laser beam to determine the position of a target in 3D space.
- Used for various applications like dimensional control, machine tool calibration, and large-scale assembly.
Leica Surface Reflector:
- A passive device, typically a corner cube prism, designed to reflect the laser beam back to the tracker with high accuracy.
- Often made from glass or metal with a hardened surface for durability.
- Available in different sizes, commonly 0.5 or 1.5 inches in diameter.
- May have a threaded shank for mounting on a holder or a magnetic base for easy attachment.
Specifications
- Type: Corner cube reflector (prism design that reflects the laser beam back to its source)
- Material: Glass or metal (often with a hardened steel surface for durability)
- Size: Typically available in diameters of 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) or 1.5 inches (19.05 mm)
- Accuracy: Reflects the laser beam with high precision (usually on the order of microns)
- Mounting: May have a threaded shank for mounting on a holder or a magnetic base for easy attachment to ferrous surfaces
